There are many great explanations of what the Group B rally era meant, but simply put it was one of those times in history when the rule-makers gloriously ignored progress and the technological briefly ruled over the simply logical. The cars were fast. Too fast, probably. And now thanks to an Artcurial auction today in France, you can own basically one of every great Group B rally car.
Apologies, dear readers, for not getting on this sooner. Life happens. Better late than never because, as of this writing, you still have time to put in your bids.
While this isn’t every car that raced in Group B (there’s no Lada), this collection offers seven of the biggest and most important. If you take the high estimate, for a little over $6 million U.S. you could recreate a Group B race. I say “do it.”
